Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Statement

With access to one of the UK’s most extensive and future-proofed communication networks, in addition to two secure data centres, Vialtus Solutions delivers dependable and secure services to its customers, while ensuring that its impact on the environment is kept to an absolute minimum.   Waste minimisation and management is a key focus area and the company has run employee awareness programmes to reduce office waste and implemented recycling programmes.  The company also looks to minimise the travel (and CO2 emissions) of its sales organisation.  Vialtus Solutions is constantly striving to address environmental challenges, reduce its own impact and help customers reduce theirs.

The Vialtus data centres represent the biggest impact on climate change within our business. Our data centre operations teams are constantly looking to reduce our environmental impact. Within both our data centre facilities we have instigated programmes to move from a traditional data centre layout to a hot and cold aisle layout. This allows the data centre operations teams to run parts of the data centres at higher temperatures, whilst retaining colder temperatures only where required resulting in a reduction of energy.

Vialtus Solutions also selects a number of charities to support each year.  The company makes a conscious decision to help smaller, community-based charities to which it feels it can make a real difference.  Its chosen charities for 2009 are Action Duchenne, the UK’s only charity raising money for research into a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; the Charley Paige Trust, which provides support for sick children and their families; and Jigsaw, an organisation that helps disabled people to get more involved in drama and the performing arts.

As part of its ongoing commitment to helping the third sector to benefit from the latest internet technologies, Vialtus Solutions also offers concessionary rates to charitable organisations.
